It’s the question we hear most — and the honest answer is that most patients find it much easier than they expected.
During the procedure
The area is fully numbed before we begin, and we test it before starting. You’ll feel pressure and vibration, but not sharp pain. Placement takes about an hour.
If you’re nervous, you can have laughing gas (you stay awake but deeply relaxed, and can drive home) or oral sedation (a deeper calm; someone takes you home). Our founder, Dr Wanjiru Kamau, is trained in conscious sedation and supports implant surgery for nervous patients.
Afterwards
Most people describe a dull ache and some swelling for two to three days — usually managed with ordinary painkillers and a cold compress. Many are back at work the next day.
What helps
- Soft, cool food for the first day or two
- No smoking — it slows healing
- Gentle salt-water rinses from the next day
- The written aftercare sheet, and a same-evening WhatsApp check-in from us
If something doesn’t feel right
You’ll have a direct line to the clinic. Swelling that increases after day three, fever, or pain that gets worse rather than better — call us.
