How it works

Five steps,
no surprises.

  1. Tell us your cover when you book

Your insurer, scheme or employer, and your member number if you have it.

  2. We check your benefit before the visit

We confirm what your cover includes and any limits, and tell you on WhatsApp before you arrive.

  3. Pre-authorisation for bigger treatment

For crowns, root canals, implants or orthodontics we request approval from your insurer and share the reply with you.

  4. We bill your insurer directly

Where your cover allows direct billing, you pay only any co-payment or the part your cover does not include.

  5. Clear receipts for everything else

If you claim back yourself, you get an itemised invoice and the clinical notes your insurer needs.

Questions

Billing,
answered.

Do you accept SHA?

We accept SHA civil-servant comprehensive cover and major private insurers — and we confirm your benefit before treatment starts. Coverage differs by scheme and treatment, so we check your specific benefit before you come in.

Does insurance cover cosmetic treatment?

Most insurers don’t cover purely cosmetic treatment such as whitening or veneers. Crowns, root canals and some implant work are often partly covered — we’ll check yours.

What if my insurer declines?

We tell you before treatment starts, never after. You can then choose to self-pay (including in instalments), stage the treatment, or choose an alternative.

Can the Shwari Care Plan be used with insurance?

Stacks with your insurance: we bill your insurer first, and the plan covers what they don’t.

Do you offer instalments?

Treatment over KES 40,000 can be paid in 3 interest-free monthly M-Pesa instalments, agreed in writing before we begin.
