About

Shwari means
calm.

In Swahili and Sheng, shwari is what you say when all is well. It's what we hope you'll say after every visit. We have been on Riverside Drive for 12 years.

Our story

Built for the people
who cancel.

Dr Wanjiru Kamau opened Shwari in 2014 after years of watching the same thing happen in busy Nairobi practices: patients who needed care cancelling at the last minute, or sitting in the chair with their hands clenched white.

She trained in conscious sedation in the United Kingdom and came home to build a different kind of clinic — quieter rooms, longer appointments, laughing gas when talking isn't enough, and dentists who explain before they act.

Today Shwari is a team of four dentists and a hygienist. Many of our patients were once too nervous to book. Most now come in without a second thought.

How we work

Four things
we never skip.

Unhurried

We book fewer patients a day than most clinics, so appointments start on time and nobody is rushed.

Honest

Published prices, written quotes, and the option we would choose for our own family — even when it is the cheaper one.

Gentle

Numbing before the numbing, sedation when talking is not enough, and a stop signal that always works.

Clear

X-rays on screen, plain words, and a WhatsApp summary after every visit so nothing is forgotten on the drive home.

Technology & sterilisation

Precise tools.
Visible hygiene.

  1. Low-dose digital X-rays

Up to 80% less radiation than film, on screen in seconds so you see what we see.

  2. 3D (CBCT) scanning

Precise planning for implants, wisdom teeth and complex root canals.

  3. Intraoral scanning

A small camera replaces putty moulds for crowns, veneers and aligners.

  4. Computer-controlled anaesthesia

A slow, steady numbing delivery that removes most of the sting.

  5. Hospital-grade sterilisation

Class B autoclaves, sealed instrument pouches opened in front of you, and a logged cycle for every tray.

  6. Single-use where it counts

Needles, suction tips, cups and bibs are single-use. Surfaces are cleaned and barrier-wrapped between every patient.

Come in for a talk.
Nothing more, unless you want it.
