When a tooth needs to come out

We always try to save a tooth first. Sometimes it’s too broken, too loose or too infected — or a wisdom tooth is stuck at an angle and causing repeated trouble. Then removing it is the kindest option.

Simple and surgical extractions

A simple extraction is a tooth we can see and gently loosen; it usually takes twenty minutes. A surgical extraction — most impacted wisdom teeth — involves a small opening in the gum and sometimes dividing the tooth. It takes longer but is done under the same full numbing.

Recovery

Most patients are back at work the next day after a simple extraction, and within two to three days after a wisdom tooth. You’ll get written aftercare, a same-evening WhatsApp check-in, and a free review a week later.

Questions

Questions about
extractions & wisdom teeth.

Do all wisdom teeth need to come out?

No. We only recommend removal when a wisdom tooth is causing pain, repeated infection, decay or damage to the tooth in front of it.

Can I be sedated for a wisdom tooth removal?

Yes. Laughing gas or oral sedation are both available. With oral sedation you'll need someone to take you home.

What should I replace an extracted tooth with?

It depends on the tooth. An implant, a bridge or a partial denture are all options, and sometimes a back tooth doesn't need replacing. We talk it through before the extraction.
