Every week, someone sits down in our consultation room and says some version of the same sentence: “I’m so embarrassed — it’s been years.”
Here is what we want you to know before you book.
You are not unusual
A long gap is one of the most common things we see. Busy years, a bad experience as a child, a move to a new city, money worries — the reasons are ordinary, and none of them shock us.
The first visit can be just a conversation
At Shwari, your first appointment is forty-five minutes long. It can be as small as a chat in a room without a dental chair in it. If you’re ready, we’ll have a gentle look and take X-rays. If you’re not, we stop there — and that still counts as progress.
You’ll leave with a plan, not a lecture
After the look, you get a short written summary on WhatsApp: what we found, what’s urgent, what can wait, and what each option costs. You decide the order and the pace.
What helps on the day
- Tell us you’re nervous when you book. We’ll give you a longer slot.
- Bring someone with you if that helps.
- Agree a stop signal — a raised hand is usual. It always works.
- Ask about laughing gas. It takes the edge off within minutes and wears off just as quickly.
The hardest part is usually the booking. After that, we’ll take it from here.
